Our business analyst consultant Angela Bowden, shares her experiences of working as part of our business analysis managed service.  People for projects is what we provide - but we put as much emphasis on culture, learning and creating  an open environment as we can, to make sure we keep the best people on our team to deliver the best work for our clients.

"Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”
― Aristotle

Enjoying your job and workplace makes getting up in the mornings a pleasure. Every day brings a fresh challenge and a pleasant surprise. Since starting with This Is Milk, I’ve felt part of something special and have been excited to find myself in an ego-free environment with a team who celebrate successes together (often with a glass of fizz in hand, much to my approval). Team members are encouraged to share ideas, skills and experiences in a unique workplace with a notable tone of respect, appreciation and humbleness.  In a short period of time, I have been welcomed into the fold, included in decisions and had the opportunity to contribute my knowledge and expertise while learning many new skills in digital transformation.
1. The TiM Team – The best thing about working for TiM is the team and how it feels like a family rather than work colleagues. Individually they are unique, interesting, fun and lovely people with varying backgrounds, life experiences and opinions, but collaboratively are hard working, passionate individuals, all driven to do a good job and who want the company to do well. We often come together to celebrate successes, discuss improvement opportunities and are not afraid to muck in or gets hands dirty to deliver and grow the company.
2. Interesting Projects and Clients
I have enjoyed working on multiple fast-paced digital projects with clients who echo the same passion, commitment and interest for the success of the venture. It is refreshing to work directly with clients in a collaborative manner to help shape their innovative ideas.  It’s also nice to share the excitement of our clients when they see their vision come to life.

There’s a danger of new or junior employees being marginalised or overlooked in the decision-making process at some agencies, with decisions deferred to the wisest heads in the room. That’s not the case at This is Milk: every idea is considered based on its merits, and not on who said it. This creates a democratic environment that fosters ideas and sharing, and where everyone feels valued.
3. Learning & Support
Site maps, personas, user journeys, UX and other terminology were terms I was familiar with but didn’t necessary have the hands-on experience I would have liked.  Working for TiM has given me an opportunity to feed my thirst for knowledge and I can now confidently throw myself into digital projects. The TiM team works in an interactive and creative environment where everyone is encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, grow and develop together. We thrive off of each other’s experiences, skills and support and are open to learning new skills in a respectful and inclusive space.
4. Leadership
Angela Prentner-Smith is wonderful to watch in action as the MD of TiM and you can see the proverbial blood, sweat and tears she puts into the business and her team. She exhibits great leadership skills, a passion and drive with her innovative ideas that you can’t help but get excited about and feel happy to get behind. Angela PS leads by example and demonstrates trust, respect, inclusion and a genuine care for the TiM team. This is the first place I’ve worked where the MD even offers to make you a coffee. As I said, no egos – not even the MD.
5. Exposure to areas of Business
Working for an SME gives astonishing exposure to more areas of business you wouldn’t necessarily see or have the opportunity to contribute to in larger organisations. I have had my eyes firmly opened to the graft that goes into running a business and have enjoyed getting involved with marketing, finance, business pitches, and networking events which is new territory to me.
In summary, working for company that has interesting projects and where you feel valued makes it a pleasure to go to work and be part of. I feel proud to be part of the TiM team and am looking forward to the exciting projects coming up in 2018.
