With just over a week until our next Milk Bar event on Friday 1 December, we'd like to introduce you to the speakers we've got lined up to talk on the topic of Generation Games.  Here is a sneak peak from our speaker Robin Huggins of MBN Solutions.

With 20 years’ experience in Talent Solutions for the Data Science, Technology, Analytics and Digital Engagement sectors, Robin Huggins has collaborated with a wide variety of hugely talented people. He has worked with some of the biggest brands, global enterprises and household names in business today including eBay, Lloyds Banking Group, Channel 4 TV, SKY and Standard Life.

In his talk he will share some of his experience of working with a wide variety of exceptional people, from graduates to C-Suite executives, and the strategies he uses to effectively communicate, collaborate and motivate.
What brings you the Milk Bar event?

I’m fascinated by people, by behaviours, attitudes and biases.

Why do you think some generations get labelled more negatively over others?

In all honesty, I think it’s bias on behalf of those labelling or perhaps just laziness! Labelling, to me anyway, is just a form of stereotyping. Neither are healthy strategies for business.

What do you see as the issue most affecting those who manage across the generations? And how can CEOs, managers, entrepreneurs meet that challenge?

I see the issue as being primarily about leaders augmenting their management toolkit. Easily done. An effective leader will have multiple solutions to any given business problem and these should always include variances to accommodate different personality types, generations and attitudes.

What should we be aware of regarding generational differences in values, beliefs, and work attitudes?

We should be aware that our individual world view is an opinion, and we all know what people say about opinions! Take time to observe behaviour and attitude and adjust your world view accordingly. Every day’s a learning experience.

Meet Robin at the Milk Bar on Friday 1 December 2017, 8:30-11:30! The location will be in the city centre and will be confirmed soon!
