Prior to a number of weeks ago, it was found that 70% of working professionals spent at least 1 day a week working remotely (IWG), with 53% working at least half of the week out of the office.
Remote working is not a new term, however it has been thrust into spotlight in recent weeks with many now forced into their homes for an unknown length of period trying to make the best out of this difficult situation. Make no mistake, for many, working from home (remotely) is not an easy transition or something that they are even set up for. Many have no desks at which to sit, poor lighting maybe, potentially children running around mad, not to even mention the isolation from colleagues and friends. It is understandable that this challenge for many, has been nothing if not, well challenging. (Click 'Read More' to watch video recording of our 'Remote Working & Facilitation' session)
At This is Milk, we consider ourselves as pretty lucky. Much of our work is already carried out remotely anyway, so it didn’t take much to shift our business entirely to our homes. It’s worth remember though, that even the best of us still have many of the same struggles to contend with. There is only so much that can be done to prevent a child running into the room, but if anything, this is what makes this time better than any to get to grips with how to facilitate your meetings and sessions remotely. Even if things do go a bit wrong, a small part of our personal lives creep in, not to worry we are all going through the same things and to be honest, is that even really a bad thing?
Welcome to the world of the video call As a response to the global pandemic, This is Milk has had to reevaluate what we do, and how we do it. Our growing (Face to Face) training arm is simply not going to work right now, so what can we do? As trainers and facilitators of learning the answer right now is simple, we can help where we can and add value and positivity in people’s lives. First things first – help those who are now at home working, or even up-skill those who have been doing it for years. Zoom call As we (at This is Milk) don’t like to teach what we don’t know. We felt it best that Angela our Managing Director lead a casual Zoom call last week to discuss her experiences in remote facilitation and answer any questions our guests may have. Thank you to the 50 plus guests we had on the call, and to the many many more who signed up to the waiting list, as well as those who have reached out in person to receive a copy of the recording and slides. As promised, below is the link to a recording of the Zoom call that we had and slides that Angela was using. If you have any further questions, be sure to ask us. Please sign up to our newsletter as we will be doing more content in a similar vein over the coming weeks and months. It would be great to speak to and share knowledge with as many people as possible. Thanks and best of luck, This is Milk Remote Working & Facilitation Zoom Recording
Here is the recording of the zoom call. Excuse the beginning, we actually forgot to press record (these things happen when working from home) lol.
