Welcome to our Pride Month special of Three at Three. In this episode, our Engagement and Inclusion expert Lynn Pilkington interviews Mental Health First Aid Trainer and consultant, Davey Shields.
Davey is an independent Mental Health First Aid Trainer and consultant. He is also the founder of the charity MenTalkHealth which was set up to tell stories around mental health to encourage men and others to talk more. 3@3: Pride Month Special from This is Milk on Vimeo.
Using his lived experience of mental illness and struggles with suicide, Davey now works to challenge stigma around mental health - the biggest barrier to those seeking support. He equips individuals and workplaces with mental health awareness training to create healthier workspaces and increase mental health literacy
Davey is immensely proud to work directly with his own LGBTQ+ community in creating better mental health support by providing safe LGBTQ+ inclusion in online training spaces. In this interview, Lynn asks Davey the following 3 questions: What can organisations do beyond a rainbow logo to support LGBTQ+ people outside of Pride month? How has COVID impacted the LGBTQ+ community and spaces? And why is it especially important to look at mental health and wellbeing training for LGBTQ+ people and employees? It's an episode that is full of valuable lessons and insights. We hope you enjoy it. If you want to get in touch with Davey, you can visit the MenTalkHealth website, send him an email at [email protected] or connect with him on Linkedin
